The Kin-Com will need to be installed with the base of the unit spaced a minimum of 36 inches (91.44 cm) from the wall. The power is connected to the unit at the left, rear, lower corner.

Electrical Requirements

The system requires a 208-240 VAC, 50/60 HZ, Single Phase, 30 AMP service. A receptacle can be used that is a Hubbell 3 pole, 3 wire part number 3330, NEMA 231A.

Provide unit with 208-240 Volt 60HZ 30 Amp branch circuit (check nameplate for proper voltage) which is wired with a minimum of #10 AWG wire. Circuit should have separate branch overload protection. If the length of the wire in the branch exceeds 100 foot, increase the gauge of the wire to #8  AWG. If the length of the wire in the branch circuit exceeds 150 foot, then increase the gauge of the wire to #6 AWG. These specifications will meet the minimum ampacity required with less than 3% line drop at 30 Amp. FOR GREATER DETAIL, REFER TO THE NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE, TABLE 310-16.

To insure proper electrical supply for the kin com installation, the following checks should be performed before kin com is connected:

Set voltmeter to read AC & up to 240 VAC

Leg 1x and 2y of the input power receptacle should read 104 to 120 Vac

Leg 3w earth ground should be about 0 Vac

Grounding: Proper grounding is essential for the safe operation of the kin com. Ground unit with an insulated copper conductor the same gauge as installed with the branch circuit conductors connected to equipment ground at panel. (Do not connect to neutral buss). Ground should be secured to earth ground at building electrical ground point. Ref NEC 517-11 (1984).

The receptacle should be located within six feet of the rear corner of the kin com placed in its proposed location.

Units with UL listing have a junction box for the connections of the service in the rear of the unit towards the lower left hand side. When wiring the input power to the box, the wire should not bend less than 2" (5cm).

The service should be a dedicated branch circuit with its own overload protection. Differences in state and local electrical codes, and license requirements makes it impractical for Isokinetic International to provide the AC power connections to the system. The services of a licensed electrician will be required for this function of the machine.

Call Isokinetic International at 423-344-0407 to arrange for assembly and operational check out of your system. Although the wiring of power should have been completed at this point, care should be taken so that NO power be applied to the base unit before our technician arrives.
